★★☆☆☆ – Meh!
With the current climate of ubiquitous true crime stories comes an account of alleged murderer Amanda Knox. The film is not nearly as interesting nor as captivating as it should be. Certain aspects of the case, which prompted a lot of media coverage at the time, just come across as unnecessarily dramatic from a press that seems hungry for headlines.
For those unfamiliar with the case, the resolution should be somewhat apparent since Amanda herself is recounting the details of her incarceration, in a casual setting that suggests she has been acquitted of her alleged crime.
The documentary itself seems confused by some of the facts and fiction floating around and its focus is on the feeding frenzy of the media rather than discerning the factual elements of the crime or what actually happened to Meredith Kercher. Ultimately I’m neither convinced of her innocence or her guilt.
