With lesser actors, this might have been passable entertainment at best, but with the likable Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan at the helm, definitely worth a watch. A tad bit dated and shallow but you can’t deny the old school Hollywood appeal, referencing films like ‘An Affair to Remember’ right down to the contrived nature of coincidence, which is one of the central themes of the film. It also sports a dreamy nostalgic quality and a wonderful soundtrack.
Overall a feather-light yet sufficiently heartfelt 90s romantic comedy. Think more romantic than comedic.
