The Valley of Gwanji (1969) (Blu-ray Premium Collection #55) ★★★☆☆

gwangi_demo.jpg

Film Grade: ★★★☆☆ (Worth a Watch!)

A group of cowboys from a traveling circus stumble upon a forbidden valley infested with prehistoric creatures.

Director: Jim O’Connolly
Runtime: 1hr 36hr
Genre: Western Fantasy

A must-have for Ray Harryhausen special effects connoisseurs, arguably among his best and also his last dinosaur offering.

Exactly the same as the American Warner Archive release in terms of disc content but the packaging is far superior with a beautiful slipcase and exclusive art cards. This is the best version of the film to date.

Cowboys versus dinosaurs but the western servings are a bit dated since by the late 60s the gritty Sergio Leone-style westerns were in full bloom. Still, a fun little adventure tale.

Bonus Features
Includes Blu-ray, DVD & Digital Copy

Return to the Valley (8:04min) – A  far too short making-of featurette with interviews that feature Ray Harryhausen.

Trailer (2:44min)
