Episodes: 13
Genre: Psychological Horror/Thriller
A modern prequel, Hannibal splatters across the small screen with hyper-stylized, unique and grotesquely beautiful imagery. The primary goal of this procedural show is to reveal Hannibal Lecter as a practicing cannibal and psychiatrist, previously unseen in the cinematic entries in Thomas Harris’ elegant horror franchise. Certainly mandatory viewing for the Hannibal completists out there.
The show raises the bar and pushes the envelope with wit and savagery. Its a nightmare posing as a dream with two intriguing characters on opposite ends of the morality spectrum.
The show does tend to suffer from some sluggish pacing from time to time and takes its self far too seriously even when it’s at its most far-fetched but the well-written chills and thrills should keep you coming back for more. Bon Appetit.
